Today we're looking back on Megan and Scott's intimate July wedding. Their sentimental micro wedding at The Cannery Ballroom wasn’t what they originally planned, but according to Megan, “It was awesome. Every single thing about it was amazing.”
Before they started dating, Megan had been a bridesmaid 14 times, and Scott a groomsman 16 times, so they were pretty much wedding professionals. In a meet-cute worthy of a rom-com, they caught each other’s attention when they were in the same wedding in San Antonio, Texas. During the reception, they were standing at the bar and ordered the same drink, a classic bourbon. They struck up a conversation and found instant chemistry!
After a couple years of long-distance dating, Scott and Megan decided to tie the knot. Nashville was special since it was Scott’s former home, and their shared love of music made it easy for them to pick Cannery Ballroom as their venue.
“We toured other wedding venues, but when we toured Cannery, it just sort of felt good in our souls. It was the right call. We are so happy we picked that venue,” Megan said.
When the big day arrived, the spacious venue was absolutely filled with greenery. It adorned chandeliers, lined the candlelit aisle, and draped the top of their simple wood altar. But what was most important to Megan and Scott was making sure their guests felt safe and comfortable throughout the celebration. They even had monogrammed masks to hand out as a pre-wedding party favor!
They wanted to save their first look for the ceremony, so before the day kicked off, they opted for a back-to-back first toast (with bourbon, of course!) where they had a few moments alone to talk and pray together.
After they said “I do,” the chairs were immediately cleared and their closest friends started playing one of their favorite songs for a fun hybrid processional and first dance.
The reception was held nearby at the Country Music Hall of Fame where Megan and Scott were greeted with sweet virtual messages from all of the guests that couldn’t attend in-person. “Though different from what we planned, it was really, really cool,” the couple said.
Just as the newlyweds were leaving for the night, they saw a group of bachelorettes outside. Megan ran up to them and tossed her bouquet to the bride-to-be, which made for a perfect end to an incredible day!
