LIFE AFTER I DO
One of our favorite things about our job is the lifelong friendships we make along the way. It is a joy to share some of life's most important moments with our clients and to keep up with them along their journey.
Today we're wishing Sloan + Drew a happy three year anniversary! In honor of their special day, we caught up with this sweet couple to talk life after "I do."
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Wow, our wedding day will be one of those days that is forever imprinted on our hearts. We have so many incredible memories from our first day as husband and wife, but the moment that stills gives us butterflies when we reminisce is the first time we saw each other. When I reached the top of the stairs at The Bell Tower, Drew and I locked eyes and it really felt like time stopped, which makes me incredibly thankful for my brother who safely got his distracted sister down the stairs and to her handsome groom.
What has surprised you the most about the first few years of marriage?
How quickly time flies. One of our favorite sayings is the days are long, but the years are short. Sometimes we feel like we have been married for a century, and others it feels like just yesterday.
Have you had any big milestones since the wedding?
When we reflect on these past few years, it's hard to believe everything that has happened. Since the wedding, I left my corporate job to move to Bowling Green, Ky. where we started our health and wellness business. Drew has been promoted twice and graduated with his Executive MBA from Western Kentucky University. I have launched a weekly YouTube channel called the GLOW Getter Project, and was recently crowned Mrs. Kentucky United States.
Our biggest blessing has been the arrival of our adorable little son, Ryder, who is about to be 18 months. He is the light of our lives, and we feel truly blessed to be his parents.
What are you looking forward to most in the years to come?
The adventure of the unknown. As you can tell, these past few years have been extremely exciting and eventful. We both feel incredibly thankful to be on this wonderful journey together as a family, and we look forward to strengthening our home and serving our community whichever direction God takes us.
Looking back on your big day, do you have any advice for couples that are about to start planning their wedding?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. At the end of the day if you and your fiancé become husband and wife, your wedding was perfect.
We would also encourage new couples to make their wedding truly a reflection of them. For example, we love music so we gave each of our guests a soundtrack from our wedding with a few bonus songs that we love. The CD sleeve was even custom made with fun pictures of Drew and me. We still get compliments on our “mixtape,” and we still enjoy having friday night dance parties to the “Love to Reid Mix!”
